What is tame the elephant about?

Yesterday I was chatting with my coach. She said, "Ryan, I want you to stop saying you are an aspiring author. You are an accomplished writer, start saying that."

So here it goes, I am an accomplished writer! In fact, I am accomplishing large amounts of writing/work on my new book called, "Tame the Elephant"

The elephant is our thinking. If we change our thinking, we change our lives and in turn our world.

Here is an excerpt, “…Sean why do you waste your time studying happiness at Harvard? Seriously what does a Harvard student possibly have to be unhappy about. Imbedded within that question is the key to understanding the science of happiness cause what that question assumes is that our external world is predictive of our happiness level. When in reality, if I know everything about your external world I can only predict 10 percent of your long term happiness. 90 percent of your long term happiness is predicted not by the external world but by the way your brain processes the world. And if we change it, if we change our formula for happiness and success what we can do is change the way we can then effect reality." (taken from) "That means 90 percent of the outcome of our lives has to do with the internal world. What happens in the mind, how we respond to what happens in the external world has more to do with long term happiness than anything else."

This book is about exploring how to win the 90 percent so you can properly process the 10 percent. It is about learning to control the only thing you can, your response, so the things outside your control don't stake you to the ground.

I am honored to be carrying the weight of this message around. I can not wait till you hold this book in your hands!
